Supposedly the first and fiercest she-pirate, Cheng I Sao (or Ching Sih), ruled Chinese waters from 1807 to 1810, robbing merchants, towns and villages and absorbing government ships into her own personal navy.
She was able to retire successfully and begin her entrepreneurial career as an opium dealer and brothel madam after negotiating amnesty for herself and pardons for her crew in 1810.
